After a year layoff, Phillip “The Wicked” Wyman stepped into the cage again for his 5th professional MMA fight.
The event was called “The Art of Fighting” and showcased local Florida talent as well as Virginia’s finest cage fighters.
Wyman was match up against local favored 6-2 Carlos “The Rooster “Gonzales from Florida’s Team Trauma. Gonzales was well known for his aggressive striking and wildly colored hair. It was very obvious right away that “The Rooster” wanted to bang on the feet, right until “The Wicked” landed his bridging overhand right! After a few brief exchanges on the feet, “The Rooster’s” plan changed as he was picked apart by Phillip’s superior timing and power. Gonzales charged Wyman into the cage to attempt a takedown, only to receive 2 shattering knees to the head for his efforts. Gonzales finally earned the takedown, only to succumb to Wyman’s superior jiu-jitsu skills. As quick as the fight hit the ground, Phil had applied a deep triangle, his favorite submission. Gonzales fought hard to escape, striking desperately to loosen the hold of Phil’s legs. In a last ditch effort, Gonzales tried to posture out of the triangle, seconds away form passing out, only to be caught by a straight arm lock, ending the fight under 2 minutes into round one.
“The Wicked” improves his professional MMA record to 3-2
Special shout out to all of the VA fighters and coaches who represented on the card. Global Martial Arts, Evolve Martial Arts, Team Combat, and of course Team Hybrid, did VA proud on Florida’s own turf
“The Wicked” is finally finding his stride as a pro fighter. Look for big things for Phil Wyman in 2009.
As always…GO TEAM HYBRID!

Now we know who the sesbinle one is here. Great post!
