Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesner defended his title this weekend against fellow heavyweight Shane Carwin in an epic battle that was a true testament to Brock’s conditioning. After an entire round of being battered by Carwin, Brock was able to weather the storm, coming back to defeating Carwin to retain the UFC heavyweight title.
Brock contributes a large portion of his success to his strength and conditioning program called “Caveman Training.” Now you can experience the same strength and conditioning program the UFC Champions like Brock Lesner, Sean Sherk, Matt Hughes and many others partake in.
The Hybrid Training Center is proud to introduce “Cave Man” Training by API (Advanced Performance Incorporated.) July 5th, 2010
Team Hybrid Fighters Akeimo Rollins and Mike “All Night” Sheetenhelm represented well at Modern Gladiators 10 this past weekend. Both fighter were coming off of extensive layoffs from fighting (Mike has not fight since last summer and Akeimo has not stepped in a cage in 2 years.) Neither however showed an ounce of cage rust in them, as both fought like only seasoned veterans would.
Akeimo fought a former training partner in Reggie Barnett. Barnett, with over 50 amateur boxing fights and an 3 MMA fights to his credit, was definitely a game a seasoned opponent. Akeimo however was a reborn fighter. Two years ago, he came to Hybrid Academy of Martial Arts a talented but undisciplined fighter with little guidance. Two years later, Akeimo emerged a polished and precise Mixed Martial Artist.
4th of July fireworks started early this holiday weekend as Akeimo and Reggie went toe-to-toe in an action packed, non-stop, bantamweight battle! Though Reggie was the seasoned boxer, Akeimo’s newly polished Muay Thai and boxing skills proved to be worthy of Reggie’s respect. Likewise Reggie proved to be more than just a boxer, showcasing brutal Thai kicks and outstanding take down defense. The war was easily fight of the night, with a lot of back and forth action. In the end however, Reggie was given the nod as winner by a split decision. Akeimo however, had won the heart and respect of many, fighting bravely, technically, and fiercely the entire fight.
Mike “All Night” Sheetenhelm on the other hand fought a flawless fight against Stephen Henkle. Mike came out aggressive with his striking, setting the pace of dominance for the rest of the fight. Catching his opponent moving straight back in exchanges allowed for Mike to easily take his opponent down every round and control him form the top once the fight hit the ground. Mike’s size, strength and skill were too much for Henkle as Mike won by a unanimous decision. Mike has been with Team Hybrid for over 4 years, and was one of the original training partners of Pro Fighters/Trainers Antwain “The Juggernaut” Britt, Chris “The Irish Pitbull” Buckner, and Tripp Seed. Look out for this kid in the near future to do big things in MMA.
As always we are proud of our warrior, win or loose. The fight for them is ALWAYS in the gym and the cage is a reward for their hard work and determination. As always…
GO TEAM HYBRID!
