October 17th- Modern Gladiators- Surfside Inn, Virginia Beach
In his first title defense, Chase “The Weapon” Walden defeated Donnie Tinsley from team Sprawl and Brawl of North Carolina to retain his Super Welterweight Muay Thai Title. Walden outclassed his opponent with superb Muay Thai skills. His patented front kick (or Teep) found it’s target on numerous occasions during the bout, often landing on his shorter opponents face!
Though his opponent resorted to fowl tactics on numerous occasions during the bout ( several illegal throws and a lifting slam, which resulted in a point deduction in the third round) Chase remained composed and calm. Slowly but surely Chase chipped away at the dwindling endurance of Tinsley with powerful roundhouse kicks, eye splitting elbows from the clinch, and an improved display of boxing skills.
The bout was stopped as the 4th round was about to start. Donnie Tinsley gave the referee a sign of surrender as the bell was about to ring and Chase Walden remained the Super Welterweight Champion!
Congrats to Thomas “Bones” Murphy for participating in his first MMA bout. Though he lost, he showed tremendous heart stepping into the cage and we are proud of him regardless.
Chase will be teaching a Muay Thai Sparring Course Saturday October 24th from 11am till 3pm. During this course he will be sharing the champion building techniques that have been passed onto him by Kru Buck Grant. It is an advanced Course and space is limited.
