Jamaica- August 29th
Mike Holcom traveled to Jamaica to fight for the World Amateur Title in kickboxing, winning by unanimous decision. Mikey has trained privately with Kru Buck Grant exclusively for several months to prepare him for the rigors of the “low-kick” division, a kickboxing style similar to muay thai. Coming from a full contact karate background, Mikey adapted to the format quite well, developing a devastating muay thai kick along side superior low-kick defense. In the final weeks leading up to the fight, Holcolm cross-trained with Team Hybrid to give him that extra push needed to prepare for high level competition.
Also an accomplished wrestler (2 X state Champ) and only being 18 years of age, Mikey looks to make the transition to MMA with Team Hybrid really soon. The future looks bright for this young athlete. Keep your eyes open for this kid in a cage near you real soon!

In an MMA Title Bout, our Heavyweight Matt VanBuren defeats Chrissy Adler via Armbar Submission 1:50 into round 2. Matt showcased very well rounded skills, utilizing superior MuayThai from the outside, and outstanding wrestling from the inside, skying his opponent with high altitude double legs off the cage. Eventually Matt was able to mount Adler and finish him with an armbar from the mount with superior jiu-jitsu techniques.
We are very proud of our two new champions and as always…
