The Juggernaut at Cagefest, and “The Finnish-er”

November 15th, 2008

In its Inaugural Pro MMA debut, Cagefest Xtreme showcased some of the best MMA athletes Virginia had to offer as well as UFC Vets from around the country.

Our very own Antwain Britt, for the first time as a pro, fought in front of his home crowd and did not disappoint. His opponent CT “The Hulk” Turner came ready to fight, pressing the action with takedown after takedown attempt. “The Juggernaut’s” superior wrestling ability enabled him to get back to his feet like the Chuck Liddell of old. CT’s awkward style of stand-up made it difficult for Britt to find his mark. Ultimately in round 2, Britt was able to land solid punches and pin Turner against the cage. A series of vicsous body shoots dropped Turner and “The Juggernaut” commenced to ground-and-pound “The Hulk” to a ref stoppage 3 minutes into round 2.

Special Congrats go to Heike “The Finnish-er” Mansikka in his Kickboxing debut. Although he lost the fight by decision, Heike showed incredible Muay Thai skill, tremendous heat and determination. Look out for “The Finnish-er” in the near future!

Special thanks to his opponent from Team Aguirre. They are a top notch camp and it is always an honor to fight them.

Thank you to all the Hybrid Academy memebers who came to support Antwain. Coaches TC “La Tortuga” Bobbit, Elliot Anderson, Joey Ponce and Jody Morgan really held the fort down for Coach Grant until he arrived. Until next time…
